Southwest Wetlands Focus Area


Mission Statement: The Southwest Colorado Wetlands Focus Area is a non-regulatory, non-profit partnership of voluntary and willing participants. Our mission is to preserve wetlands, riparian areas, and associated uplands through community partnerships, conservation, enhancement, restoration, creation, and education.  The area of focus is southwest Colorado and its drainages that extend into New Mexico and Utah.

Preservation of threatened wetlands requires a combination of commitment, expertise, funding, and coordination among partners.  The Adopt-a-Wetland program addresses multiple challenges through volunteer stewardship provided by groups committed to community service.
